A EURAM-funded project 'ENGAGING UNIVERSITIES IN CAPACITY BUILDING FOR ALTERNATIVE BUSINESS MODELS' will commence on 01/10/2019. If you happen to teach a Unit/Module that mentions co-operative enterprise, we would be interested to hear from you (This email address is being protected from spambots. This project responds to the calls to correct the focus of the education provision by universities to ensure a tighter fit with changing business conditions and new societal demands. It explores a largely neglected research area - a lack of engagement of higher education (HE) with the capacity building for alternative business organisations, specifically those based on co-operative principles. Conceived as an exploratory study, this project undertakes a landscape review, resulting in a state of the art assessment of the gaps between the competencies and knowledge needed to boost the role of the cooperative sector in modern economy and the supply of research and training through the system of higher education.
